Can you believe it’s already June? It feels like this year is flying by. However, this whole BRCA process couldn’t be dragging any slower, or so it feels.
With June comes my second BRCA consultation for my Prophylactic Bilateral Mastectomy; and I can hardly stand the wait. It’s been two months now since my first consultation in Jacksonville, and with such a terrible experience I am ready to get that bad taste out of my mouth.
I realize that my first consult was before this blog was live. For those of you who don’t know, who haven’t had the pleasure of listening to me bitch and moan about Jacksonville, here is a quick synopsis…
As a Tricare Prime insurance holder you have to receive a referral from your Military Primary Care Physician and/or Military Doctor involved in your diagnosis and treatment. The closest in-network provider offering the specific reconstruction that I am electing to have is in Jacksonville…5 hours away. Due to the distance, we would receive a travel reimbursement from the military, so we figured why not?
